Indigenous Services
We recognize and acknowledge we live, work and enjoy life on the unceded traditional territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg Nation and people
Intergage is dedicated to supporting Canada’s commitments to reconciliation with Indigenous people. Canada is at a precipice and investments, on all sides, are required to achieve Canada’s commitments to reconciliation and the full implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
Today, we see opportunities for greater progress towards reconciliation but there remain significant challenges. For governments, these include how they consult, support, work with and uphold agreements with Indigenous governments and people. For Indigenous governments and peoples the focus is on engaging with government partners in new ways, plan for the future, build capacity and required infrastructure to move forward on their self-determined journey.
At Intergage, we work with government departments/ministries, Indigenous governments, institutions, and communities to plan and build capacity to achieve their self-determined visions. We are committed to supporting all parties in living up to the promises of reconciliation – to move from aspirational to forward-looking, concrete plans that are self-directed by Indigenous peoples themselves and ultimately
result in better outcomes for Indigenous people.
Our Services include:
- Planning and working with different levels of government to identify priorities and align resources to the areas of highest priority; proactively addressing risks and fulfilling obligations in relation to Crown agreements, duty to consult and accommodations
- Capacity building of partners involved in the reconciliation journey
- Governance review and renewal
- Strategic and community planning
- Consultation and engagement
- Evaluation and assessment of results
We are strong believers in the principle “for Indigenous, by Indigenous”. Our role is to help build capacity for Indigenous communities to define and achieve growth and prosperity. To achieve this end, we have forged an ongoing and strategic partnership with Innovation 7 to work together to leverage the strengths of both firms to bring a broad range of expertise and skills to the projects we work on. We are committed to building understanding and bridges between federal and provincial governments and Indigenous governments, communities and peoples and to help develop plans that are self-determined; leading to new and revitalized relationships and the achievement of real and lasting results.
